Rapid Notify Selected by City of Altoona for Emergency Notification Services
Rapid Notify, Inc. announced today that it was recently selected by the City of Altoona, Pennsylvania to provide emergency notification services. The Rapid Notify system will enable Altoona police, fire and city officials to contact over 35,000 area residents in the event of an extreme emergency situation.
The City of Altoona is located in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Altoona will be utilizing Rapid Notify's geographic mapping capability to send targeted alerts based on location and proximity to emergency situations. In addition, the online community self-registration feature offers Altoona additional methods to deliver important messages. Residents can sign up to receive emergency alert notifications via landline, cellular telephone, SMS text message, or e-mail.
“Rapid Notify provides the comprehensive incident communications system we need to reach our staff and community,” said Deputy Chief Tim Hileman, emergency management director for the City of Altoona. “The system will enable us to efficiently alert, coordinate, and deploy personnel in response to any emergency situation, while providing detailed reporting with which we can document all notification activity.”
